Just 3 km south of Porto Cesareo lies the seaside locality of Sant’Isidoro, which is part of the Porto Cesareo Marine Protected Area. This area stretches from Torre Inserraglio to Punta Prosciutto. The site appears as a bay along the Salento coast, specifically on the western side facing the Ionian Sea. This side is distinct from the Adriatic coast due to its alternating landscape of low rocky shores and wide sandy dunes. The coastal plain here is best understood as the morphological result of combined karstic and marine processes.
